Churchtown Cross in St. Buryan


There are several crosses in this style around the village of St. Buryan. The Christ figure being depicted as triumphant. The area around the church is flat land and it's told that it served well as a convenient battle ground in the days of cut and thrust. The church itself is definately worth visiting to see the beautifully carved Rood screen.

The picture to the right shows the granite cross at it's current standing point in St. Buryan. The dimensions of the cross do not include the missing shaft.
